Who will dethrone the Wave?

I´ve used the LM Wave for some years now for everyday carry. It´s a truly remarkable tool, but I want something new and fresh. The problem is, there are nothing new out there to beat the wave. Sure there is the new charge, but it is too, only a modded wave.

So the question is, who will deliver a new and innovative tool?, that finaly puts an end too the Wave era? And what will it look like?

The one-hand opening of the wave is unique and extremely useful. (LM should get off their butt and make a lefty version though!!) With the NEW wave, LM has fixed the sticking problems, added locks to everything and beefed up the pliers, one step further, the charge has a true modern blade steel and some extra features. It may be just a modded wave, but the mods are significant.
Nobody will end the wave era anytime soon, at least not for a resonable price. The swisstool sprirt is an alternative, which could have come close to the old wave, but not the new wave or charge.

A new era would be more tools, with the same or greater quality and toughness, packed into a smaller space...

Very True.... but until one of the major manufacturer's hires ME to design their new ranges - I'm afraid the only truly innovative tool will remain just a dream .... :)

I think the new LM Charge is in a whole new league. I've carried multitools for 15 years now, and I am simply amazed how far they have progressed. I recently replaced my Wave with the Charge and have been very happy with it. It is a much more versatile tool with the bit adapters. I love the larger 154cm blade, the thumb hole is larger (so easier to engage) and the blade is smooth coming out (bronze washer).

the spirit....definately...with tools that can open without first opening the pliers and better steel,it's belong to the tool lover.not to mention that it size is now much suitable for yr EDC!

can't wait to buy it in hongkong!

I find that i can still open both blades using my middle finger to pull it out a bit and then my thumb to do the rest with my left hand. Its very easy and just as fast as if it were made for a left hand. As well i can open the saw and file one handed with my left by pressing on where there should be a slot and just folding it out. Right handed people couldn't do this. Opening the saw quickly with one hand has has come in very handy many times for me. That made me happy i had the right handed version and not a left handed one.

my hope is that they made more one-hand operate too, such as scissor....i use it often and feel it will be gd to had this feature!

A strong contender for best design I think would be the Syderco Spyderench ,I just saw a Spyderco rep at a knife show in Denver who says that these will be put back into production and that they may be coming out with something new in the future after they get the Spyderench back on line .Anything that they will have I greatly look forward too .

They are competing in different classes. For me, the one-hand opening blades, compact size and lower weight is to be considered when looking for EDC equipment.

But for survival, I would choose the supertool or the swiss tool, over the less robust wave.

I think time will prove in the End that Charge will set Records in sales!!! Better than anyone would have thought. I plan to help out and buy more than one. I always like to have a backup to my backup!!!
