Who would be interested in a synthetic handle for CS shovel?

I made a synthetic handle for my CS shovel out of some Nylatron rod. It is a great improvement for an already fantastic tool.
I'd like to know if anyone else would be interested in a similar upgrade for their shovels, if available.
I know a guy who might be willing to turn some synthetic handles for me on his CNC equipment.
So, let me know if you would be interested in this posibility.

I'm interested but the $$$ is a big factor for me.The Canadian $ isn't what it used to be against the USD.I would like one a little slimmer than the stock wood one.

Use furniture grade Rattan on the spear. It will flex like it needs to even if you are on horseback and will be strong and very light.

Interest so far, has not been what I'd hoped. I'd need at least 20 people to order to start work. Tell your friends!

What color would everyone want? We would need to pick one and go with that, as I'm not ordering a bunch of different colors.

You might get some more interest if you told people what they would cost.

That all depends on how many people want to buy one.
For example.
If ten people want one, then they could cost around $40 each. If twenty people want one they would be $30 each. The more I have made, the better the cost is distributed.....to a point.

I'm in at $30 or less. I think it's a great idea. C'mon folks, get the work out :)

I agree. :eek:

I'd suggest you post it in the survival forum.
Add pics.
Having a prototype tested by some respected member would probably help.
Right now I'd be concerned with:
* vibrations
* handle traction
* fit, risks of loosening
Also check with moderators that (somehow) offering something for sale is ok.
I know this is only prototypes and all, but you should check with them anyway.

Hope this helps.

How does everyone feel about Zytel for handle material?
It seems to be the best option I can come up with for now.(cost vs. durability)
The material is $11 a foot. Machining will cost $80-100/hour.
It's looking like these things are going to cost a bit more than I thought.

If anyone has any suggestions for a cheaper material, please let me know.
