Who would but an Onion/REKAT collaboration?

I was just thinking about the two knives which are the objects of my lust as of late, the REKAT Sifu and the Ken Onion Random Task.

Why can't they collaborate and make a combination rolling lock/speed safe knife?

Why not re-vamp the entire REKAT line with the speed-safe aas an option? I think a Carbon Fiber handled, D2 bladed, Ti coated Speed safe Sifu would be about the last word in a defensive folder, and would be great for utility as well.

Just food for thought, but If they made one to aforementioned specs, I would buy it in a sec.

I doubt the Speed-Safe mech. would fire the rediculously large blade of the Sifu.

Ken Onion is under contract with KAI for the Speed Safe. From what I understand, and Ken can clearify this as we talked at length Wednesday, is that the Speed Safe is going to be a Kershaw only product.

Not that I have a particular problem with liner locks, but it would be nice to see speed-safe on a knife with a lock like the axis or rolling locks. Or maybe some other lock?

You could put nacho cheese sauce on it...

Welll...on a contrary note, I love the totally open design on my Sifu. It allows quick daily-in-the-morning inspection for crud near the lockup point, the only thing that could possibly render the lockup unreliable.

And yes, I check every morning. That piece may save my hide one day, I take public transit through some serious cesspools.

(I've always done the same with every lock, and I'd for damnsure do it with an Axis or SOG's new Arc.)

Add all kinds of "semi-spring doodads" and that rock-solid simplicity starts to go away. Thanks, but no thanks.

The Sifu is a tank. Don't add bits to it

Is kershaw going to come out with a larger speed safe folder? I wanted to buy one but they are too small. Kershaw and Benchmade make great knives but they are too small. I can't wait for the pentagon elite II.

Along the same lines as some of the other replies, I am wary of liner locks and would like to see Speed Safe applied to a knife that is strong. The Sifu may be a tank, but the Speed Safe would not comprimise it's strength. Maybe I am just looking for a way to hit two birds with onw stone and get a sifu and a speed safe at the same time.

If not the sifu, how about the Carnivore.

And if Onion is under contract, then he can re-design and improve the lock and then license it.

A D2 Carbon fiber handled Carnivore with a rolling lonck would be about the best utility/defense knife I could think of.
