Really been wanting to try this steel and spyderco has no production knife in this steel.

Another Jens Anso collaboration model in the 2011 Product Guide. I'll pass.

Wow I'm suprised no one has intrest to me it looks like a euro stretch and I think ill like the g10 ppt ish

Owning a Rocklobster makes me leary of Anso collabs, and that blade shape holds zero appeal to me. I'm a sucker for S90V, but I'm not sure even that could tempt me on this one.

Do you mind elaborating on that comment just a bit? What was it about the Anso that bothered you?

CPM-154 seems to be much more favored by individual makers than production companies. Everyone seem to say how easy it is to machine and finish, but on a production scale, there are better performing steels. I've seen a lot of love for CPM-154 because of that workability, but I haven't seen anyone out there saying that it outperforms S30V, one of Spyderco's most commonly used steels.

The Crucible datasheets suggest that they're pretty close as far as edge performance goes, IIRC...so there seems little incentive to add that as an alternative to S30V...longwinded way of agreeing with you.. :D

The handle shape of the Rocklobster features points in the wrong places for my somewhat oversized hand. The nested liners prevent me from grinding them off to fit my hand, rendering the knife pretty much useless to me. I have similar problems with all the Schempp designs I've tried. I even had to grind down the handle of my Rock Salt so I could stand to use it. That experience is what makes me leary of the new Anso design. Since the first one didn't fit, what are the chances that the second one will?

Yep the Zulu isn't my cup of tea either. Blade is too out there for me, as far as the shape is concerned. All my "so ugly it's cute" factor has already been taken by the Navaja (gonna get me one of these!)!
Love the Zulu's handles design though.

I see it is set for s30v, but having so many knives in this steel and none in cpm154 I thought a special sprint of it cpm154 be cool . I also like recurves so it be awesome to have my cake and eat it to haha

Look into ProTech knives. These are top quality, high-end automatics and the majority of their product line are based upon C-154 steel. I own 4 of them and the steel is everything that you are craving in your blades. Go to www.protechknives.com and you will get the information.

Sorry you're wrong. I do see S35VN and consider that a quality steel, but 154Cm and CPM-154 are different stories.

Doesn't make any sense for spyderco to do it, though. From everything I've read (I have no CPM154 steel) they perform very similarly, with s30v usually beating it on edge holding. The reason custom makers like it is because it's easier to grind, and easier to finish. big, automated operations that already have s30v production nailed don't really need to switch, especially for no performance gain.

Sprints either have special steel, or a special look to them, or both. CPM154 really aint all that special when you already have s30v, other than having a different name.
