I was just admiring my 2 Mnandis this evening and realized that I would pay big bucks for a Large Mnandi. You know, about the same size as a large Sebenza. That would be incredible!!!!! Can someone with some photoshop skills make a side by side comparison of a large Sebenza and a large Mnandi? Or maybe show what a large Mnandi might look like in the hand?

I don't know how I feel about a large Mnandi, but here's a quick mockup. It's very rough -- I've been on the road for ten hours and made it on my iPad. Pretty good, considering :D

A large Mnandi would be intersting and a large plain Manadi would be more so, but that is getting miles away from what the Mnadi is. A small, friendly gents knife that CRK can use to showcase the wood, teeth and bone they have for inlays.

I think maybe slightly smaller would be better. Somewhere in between a large and small sebenza with a 3.2-3.3 inch blade. I would probably buy one of those;)

I'd love one with a 4" blade, the size of an Al Mar Eagle. There aren't many knives with a blade that long that aren't tall.

a full size godzillandi would be cool, even if the mnandi was born as a coll gentlemans workhorse

I'd love a Lrg Mnandi, the size was the only thing putting me off. and I really like Haze's idea of a plain Mnandi maybe stonewashed

I would LOVE a large Mnandi! I would hop on that purchase without hesitation.

However, I have to agree that it goes against what that knife is. We are probably as apt to see a large Mnandi as we are a small Umnumzaan.

Great job Hox! That's just what I was looking for. I understand the Mnandi's place and purpose. It's in a perfect niche. I was just imaging how well a larger version under a different name like "Jaigandi" would be like. I think it would be a huge seller. Especially with cool inlays. The blade shape and handle shape are very unique and lend well to proportional enlarging!!!

Ditto here. Large plain Mnandi all the way. It's difficult to find a good "picnic" knife better than the Al Mar Eagle - which I have - but this would be MUCH better!

Hmmm.... That Al Mar Eagle is sweet looking!!!! Maybe hafta get one of those since there's no Large Mnandi!

No, no, no, no, no!

The Mnandi is PERFECT as it is... small, elegant with beautiful natural handle materials.

Next thing you know, people will start asking for micarta, G10 or CF inlays again! Or... heaven forbid... a plain Mnandi!

;)

I'd probably buy a larger Mnandi... as long as it comes with natural handle materials!

Kind regards,

Jos

I'm not saying change the Mnandi!!!!!!! There's a small sebenza and a large sebenza and they can co-exist. Both have their purpose. I'm just saying a large Mnandi next to my small Mnandi would be REALLY nice. I would collect them.

Chris has stated in a previous thread that he has no interest in producing a larger variant of the Mnandi. Mr. Reeve has several other knife designs and ideas that he'd eventually like to try and would rather dedicate his time, effort, and money to producing those instead. It's an interesting and common idea, but it's simply not viable.

I would (like) love a large Mnandi.
This is only to answert the question of the thread.
