The recent thread on Paperstone Folders got me to thinking...And I wondered how many would like to see such an offerering for the masses...
just a regular 420hc drop point blade in the paperstone frame ??? Maybe Buck has some 442 blades left in stock and could drop a few into these frames and sell them on the web specials.....hint,hint...
just thinking is all...:)

I like the profile on Club Barehead. A 420HC regular 112 in dymondwood would suit me real nicely

Here's what I'd like to see and it would maybe turn me on to the Papestone a little more. If they would make the 112 with at least a front bolster, a 482 blade with the thumb stud similar to this 110 size knife, I'd be all over it. Especially if they would offer it in something other than red or green.

I have really darn close to buying an Ecolite 112 and filing the clip point blade to more of a drop point, so yeh, count me in.

I love the blade on my 482 but think the frame is awful. Nice and light, yes but dead dog ugly. Would just love that blade in the Ecolite 112 frame. I'd buy a bunch just to stockpile them.

I wouldn't need bolsters. If I'm going to carry the weight of bolsters, I want traditional wood. But, I really dig the full papers tone look on the Ecolites.

My preference would be to keep thumb studs and pocket clips off of it to. Just a straight up locking folder.

I'd like one just like the 112 Paperstone barebottom model that came out recently but I'd have to have it with a 154-cm blade. DM

Oh yeah.

I'll take two, please.

And could we have a drop-point 110 while we're at it? I mean, the 112 would get lonely.

Added plus to a 110 Drop point is it would be well suited for food prep...plus a light carry for camping...

Another way of say this is a request for Buck to change the handles on the 482/486 line to papers tone while loosing the thumb stud and clip.

EDITED TO ADD:

Here's a picture to describe what I would like to see from Buck.

Lockers by Pinnah, on Flickr

The second knife from the top started it's life as an Opinel #9. The blade style was a slight clip. Not as extreme as the Buck 110, but closer to it. I really dislike clip points for EDC use so I filed the #9's blade down to a drop point, which shortened it a bit. The result is a blade that is noticeably longer than either a Buck 500 or 112 and that has more belly to the front of the blade than either or a 110 for that matter.

The shorter blade allowed me to go after the handle, both shortening it and thinning it (Sitflyer, you can see your influence here). The resulting handle is about the same size and girth as an Ecolite 112. It's lighter too. (I should mention that the beech handle sands down to a very smooth feel and when adjusted properly the Opinel's locking system allows for one hand opening and closing with bit of practice).

Now, unless somebody thinks this is an advertisement for modified Opinels in a Buck forum, it isn't. I'm a Buck fan, have no plans on getting rid of my 500, 110 or 482 (not pictured). In fact, I would like to add another Buck. But I want something very close to my modified Opinel #9. Closest things I can find are the 486 and Ecolites. I want the handle of the Ecolite (no pocket clip thanks or least cleanly removable) and the blade of the 486/482.

No, It wouldn't have been in the catalog. It may be one of a kind, but I don't know that for sure as I don't know what the other award knives were. It was made by Buck as the Youth Award for the 2010 Atlanta Blade Show. As it turned out, tnere were no "Youth" exihibitors, so Joe took it back to Buck and polished off the award etch on the blade. He then sent it to Bruce to sell to help defray show costs. I purchased it from Bruce at last years show in Pasadena, California.

I'm meant to say: I like the blade profile on the Club's 112 Barehead. A droppoint blade in 420hc in a regular 112 frame with a dymondwood handle would suit me real nicely.

There that's more clear. gw
