ok guys....any body ever consider a wharncliffe blade on a sebenza other than st james?....i think it would be a great utility option (not that the current blade style is bad i just want a wharncliffe).......feverdoc

I'm all for options, that is for sure. Options give me ... well, options. (yaknow, there is some Yogi Berra in that sentence.)

For me personally, I don't find the utility value in wharncliffe's that many other people must obviously find. I would have to type a lot to convey why...hard to describe. Seems like with a wharncliffe, you either use the point or you have the whole straight edge to contend with. I miss the belly.

I much prefer a drop point w/ some belly and a flat section....kinda the blade Reeve already offers (although I guess Reeve's blade is a cross between true drop point and a clip, sorta).

Having said all that ===> options are a good thing.

So yeah, hope Reeve accomodates those who want a wharncliffe or sheepsfoot, etc. Or the even more specialty item, the hawksbill.

I'm glad he is offering the flat ground blade. I'd like to pick one of those up in plain clothes sometime, used.

I'm all for a Wharncliff blade on a small Sebenza, less than 3".
I've found that with the wharncliff blades it you go up to 4" they tend to get in their own way, unless you go very long say 8-9" in a fixed blade then they are really awesome fighting knives, had one from Ed Schott, his Lord Wharncliff's Mistress and it was pretty amazing.

Count me in, it could have just a slight raise near the tip to give just a little belly, but the point dropped lower than the current line of Sebenzas and the Mandi even, the Mandi does have a lower point and is tempting me to order one...

I don't know. While I like wharncliffes, am not sure that I want to see CRK do one. It seems to me a large part of the charm of Sebenzas is their essentially unchanging nature. Yes, there was a change in the handle form, but that is more cosmetic than anything, IMO. I guess there are a couple different blade shapes, but am not well informed enough to say so flatly.

I think also that because Chris Reeve was the originator of the frame lock, and because the Sebenzas are so strong, that despite the relative lack of change, they still hold a leadership position in the world of knives. Trying to be like everyone else would take something away from that, IMO.

From a more practical standpoint, I don't think many wharncliffes have made much in the way of money for the companies that have offered them. They seem to me to be more a part of the custom world, and I'd just as soon see that remain the same.

I also agree with Gary. I would like to see a small Sebenza
with a wharncliff blade.

A few years ago Anne posted a picture of 3, one of a kind folders that Chris had made. There was one that I thought had especially nice proportions, with a wharncliff style (somewhat) blade and it was extraordinary.

It was Number 7, c7, 47 something liek that, I printed that pic out, but I don't know what I did with it.
