I just bought a .285" thick Blk/Blk Mag G10 HHFSH from Liu Kang (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=768725) and it arrived yesterday!!!
I already have a NASA HHFSH and CroMagMan "Garth" Custom HOGFSH and have always wanted to beat on them, but have always been concerned about re-sale value, so they've sat in the safe and only fondled when friends stopped by. I always thought that if I could find a Mag handled HHFSH with the logo above the grind line in a thickness between the two Steel Hearts I already had, it would be "Just Right"!!! Well...when I saw Dan's F/S post, I couldn't resist...I HAD to try it on for size!!!
What can I say.....It's gonna be the PERFECT User!!!!
I decided last night I HAD to use it to ensure I wouldn't want to sell it....soooo I went out and whacked some stuff in the burn pile to make THIS Steel Heart my own. So without further ado.....here are the pics....
Oh and get this...(Some of you might be able to relate to this)...as I'm walking out the front door today with Steel Heart in Hand, Sylvia tells me, "Now Don't go and hurt yourself!". What a HUGE vote of confidence from the person I hold dearest in life huh???
Anyway...Where were we...Oh yeah...here we go...
BRAND Spankin' New...
First WHACK...
3 different types of wood (I think I found out why the Birch tree died...)
Just a little Tip Prying...
MINE All MINE!!!!
Other than some paint chipping off the tip (I'm eventually gonna strip it anyway) and coating rubbing away from the flats on the edge, no worries at all. I didn't cut any paper before taking her out into the yard, but did after I got her all cleaned up and although the blade caught in some spots, she'd still cut paper with most of her edge. The Magnum G10 in this thickness of blades has by far been the most comfortable of all the big "Fusion" handles I've tried to date (didn't even wear gloves today)!!! Obviously the ResC is still the champ for dedicated choppers, but for this size blade I'm ECSTATIC!!!!
I decided she's gonna be called Black Betty and I've paired her up with my .416 Ruger Alaskan that Robar blackened for me...
THANKS BUSSE COMBAT for assembling MY PERFECT HHFSH and Thanks Dan for sending it to me!!! Now.....for a sheath.....Hmmmmmm
