I've had a Kershaw Boa for about 3 years now. I work in a small knife store and a lot of people come in for kershaw's phone number because thier torsion bars wear out or break. My boa is still as strong and fast as when i took it out of the box because since i've had it when i'm not wearing it on me i've always left the knife opened and locked. That way the torsion bar is well...not torsioned. So thats what i recommend people do when i sell em a kershaw speed safe.

actually, much like autos, the thing that kills those springs is constant use more than the way they are stored. When small springs are fired over and over repeatedly they get hot and then break....

and that is the problem.
