Who's been winning?

Spyderco and Kabar for me lately have outshined my more expensive purchases. For Spyderco, the Enduras with saber or full flat grinds both impressed the heck out of me. The edges are almost mirrored out of the box and are sickening sharp. Shipping is the Manix 2, which I read great reviews on and I'm really excited to check out the caged ball lock.

Kabar has got me with the Heavy Bowie and Kukri. I'm impressed also with factory edge, and performance has been excellent for both. Sheaths were ok and free, so no complaining but a custom sheath would be useful for both. The Kukri is much heavier than the Cold Steel version, I don't own any CS but sampled a friend's.

So...who has been winning for you? Who has you good?

Spyderco, ZT, and Emerson have been very good lately. The Gentleman Jim i received as a gift from Mrs. RevDevil was just about perfect. The Ti Military was also excellent in the sharpeness and fit and finish areas. I recently got a ZT0350CBZDP and I was very happy to see it was also perfect. :D
Quality is getting better than it ever was.

Spyderco And Victorinox.
I Love The Spyderco Folders, They're Great, Sharp, Good Steel, And Overall Just Great Knives.
And Victorinox Has Been Killing Me With Their Awesome SAK Designs. =]

Kabar is always a safe bet. You will always get more out of it than what you paid for, or they will always make it right.

Emerson for me. My first two Emersons have about taken over all the folder chores that I have. I picked up a mini-CQC15 and a micro-Commander to see how they perform. That's all I've carried for 3 weeks now and so far I don't have any desire to go back to anything else. Even the funky blade profile is getting easier to maintain than anything else I have.

Spyderco, ZT, Kabar, and ESEE have been catching my cash lately. Best part, not a single one of the half dozen or so knives I've gotten over the last few weeks, have not had a single flaw, sharp edges, and pretty packages. :D

Spyderco is probably in the lead for most of my dollars spent soonest. I have the Manix2 Translucent on pre-order, and I want another Military and probably a Yojimbo2 and maybe another Para2 or Superleaf (when I'm in my "these are the only knives I'll ever need or truly want" mood -- which usually passes right after an order goes in).

But Kershaw has me for the Knockout and Echelon when they become available. Benchmade is trailing since I'm not completely sold on the Mini Onslaught or the Adamas -- but they're on the list for eventual buys.

I've been on a Strider kick recently and the most knives I own are Spyderco, CRK and Strider right now. I have a few one offs but I also have some super duper ZT offerings on pre-order too - 0560/0561/0550 and the 0777

To me, the recent winners are ZT and Spyderco for the newest offerings for sure. ZT is on fire IMHO. I just wish they were faster to market with some of their teaser offerings. They are world class production knives by any description (I think) but it seems to take a year plus to see one of them make it to market after the hype starts. Even longer in some cases.

My Knifeworks BM M390 AFCK is due in the mailbox today as well but I'll reserve my opinion on BM for when it arrives in a few hours. This will be my first BM in 3 years . . .

My 3 most used pieces lately have been (from most to least) an Opinel No. 8 Carbon, my Baryonyx machete, CS Pocket Bushman.

As far as overall industry winners are concerned, I think that Spyderco and Kabar/Becker are doing quite well for themselves.

My Spyderco Delica 4 and my Victorinox Super Tinker have just taken over the edc role for me. I find myself feeling satisfied with this combo which is a new experience when it comes to knives.

It's nice to find that perfect combination of tools that meets all the needs in a simple and efficient way.
