I've had this little fella lying around for ages. Looked it up online seems it was made between 1950 - 1964, with the dark red handle material I think it was 1964.

I keep toying with the idea of picking one up. I really like the pattern. Ideally, I would look for one without the signature on the main blade.

Why? What is the sig on the main blade have anything to do with the knife?

The signature is etched on the blade. I prefer not to have etching on the blades. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose

I've never had one, but I have a soft spot for anything with red bone scales :D

I wasn't aware that the old versions had the etching on the blade

The Case XX era ones didn't. (Case began making the pattern itself before 1915.) I think all the Case XX USA (no dot) ones are stainless and they did have an etch - but not Eisenhower's signature. Not sure when they started the signature etch, but I think they've been doing that for quite a few years.

Edited to add: but they don't do all of them that way, even now -- some have other etches, some have none - just looking at them on Shepherd Hills.

I gotta start payin more attention to things :D

Here's a '99 Abalone. 3 1/8", #08263 in stainless. Love the size but afraid of scratching it.

I have a Red bone one from the 70"s that I picked up from a fellow member. I really like the older ones as they are thinner than the current production ones. Handy little knives.

Count me among the guys who like the pattern but A) won't buy one with Ike's signature etched on the blade and B) would love to see one in chestnut bone and cv.
