Who's got the Funk _-_ - Dip Bucket Blues?
There has to be a way of getting rid of the Funky can't see the bottom, slimy "Dip Bucket Blues"
Ideas!

You say you .....
Got those steadily depressin',
low down, mind bendin',
slimy ol' dip bucket blues?

Well There are probably 50 ways to clean your bucket.

You could:
Pitch it out back, Jack
Get a new pan, Stan
Put in some Koi, Roy
Now listen to me.

Scrub out the funk, Gus
You won't have to wash much
Or fill it with pee, Lee
And then you'll be free.

Slip,it in the sink,Link
Don't matter what the wife thinks
She'll clean it out quick, Dick
and make it shine.

Now, use some clorox, Borat
Fill it to the top, Doc
Then change it each week, Leith
And never worry again.

Put in some Borax, Horace
It will stay clean, Liam
No rust at all, Gustival
It's a Loveless trick.

Stacy is into the mead again folks. You doing cartwheels in your kilt while singing that?

I do not recommend peeing in your slack bucket. It smells bad when you stick a hot blade in there. Don't ask me how I know. :barf:

This may result in frying-pan-shaped depressions upside your noggin. Don't ask me I know that, either. :(

I don't laugh out loud often, but that brought tears to my eyes!

You think slimy slack buckets are gross, you should see the nasty-ass-slime-moldy-1-inch-thick-goo-livers that form on a sump containing certain cutting fluids that has sit dormant a few weeks. One mill has an integral sump in the casting that you have to get down on your hands and knees and reach in there to muck that sump out.

Stacy must have a new bag of pipes! That was great Jess

Been there, buddy... shoulder deep... gagging... my whole arm was tinted black after.

Hilarious! I had to dig my mini out of the grinder bucket, yesterday. Horrific feeling. Nice black film covering the 2" of water, my 2" bowie at the bottom. Uggg!

Don't you guys put anything in the water to kill the surface tension and reduce rust?

I never seem to have any issue with my bucket.

I use Boraxo Laundry Booster.

The water is always clean, with particulates sinking to the bottom.

No rust on the blades, and no slime in the bucket.

Loveless turned me on to it.

I have to reach in that nasty thing so much I catch myself rinsing my hands in it, lol. I need a grinding magnet!

At first I was scared of the rust Kracken or whatever lurks in the shadowy depths of my bucket but now I just feed it more metal to appease it and my hand is still safe!

I use soap and baking soda to keep the Kracken clean and fresh smelling.

+1 on what Brian said; I use a couple drops of dish detergent my wife didn't like and a about a cup of baking soda. everything sinks no flash rust and when you do change water everything drops out of the bottom like metal pancake.

I swept up all the borax on the floor after I dropped it and put it in my slack bucket. No longer rusts my tongs if I forget them in it overnight. I even have a poker that lives in it that has not rusted for months.

This was a suggestion from Mike Turner who has been a farrier for years.

LOL to all you guys!! I thought I was the only one who constantly dropped stuff in the grinder bucket:D I was changing my work rest from the flat platen to the 8" wheel just today when my socket fell out of the ratchet and straight into the bucket. Just another day at the office I guess;)

Brian, I will definitely try the Boraxo. Mine is never really clear and always has that rusty tinge to it. Every couple weeks I drain the water off and then scoop out all the steel dust sludge into the garbage and rinse the bucket, but it will always be orange from the rust no matter what.

That was great, Stacy!

And I promise that if I ever have a dip bucket that I will remember to use Boraxo too.
