During my move to Tennessee I managed to lose all my pouches for my knives. I keep the knives in sack-ups and other types of cases but I don't have any pouches !! Who has decent pouches for folders at a decent price ??
Greg
Rick Frigault, a Canadian knifemaker, sells his for DIRT cheap. They look like the standard deal, $3-$5 a pop, it seems! Haven't experienced the product or the man myself. Bill's cases are supposed to be the nicest and according to Steven Garsson they are also the original. They tend to be a fair bit more expensive, but you can contact Bill himself and get a small price break off the MSRP. He makes more sizes and variations than any I've seen. I think I purchased some from Koval's years and years ago and they were fine, however I would guess that Rick's are the same, more or less, so you could probably do a lot better pricewise with him.
Daniel O'Malley will not put expensive knives in anything else. He showed me how one of my cheap cases allowed one of my knives to get scratched. When he shook the case I could hear the knife sliding around. He then put the same knife in a Bill's case and shook it. There was NO movement.
Bill's fixed blades cases also have an elastic band on the outside to hold the sheath while the knife is in the case.
I took a look at Bill's cases, and if I ever make knives that would deserve something like that I'm going to start using them. For now I just provide cheap ones from Ace Case. At least they're American made. I might take a hint from Bill though and add elastic bands to hold the sheath outside the pouches I do use.
I've never seen anything as nice as the cases he makes though...
