the cooler weather and the 'other' thread on outerwear got me thinking. for the first time, i'm actually welcoming the colder weather because i can now carry more stuff! i now have 4 more pockets to fill! i have a bad feeling that i'm going to waste, er, invest more money in knives and gadgets to fill those pockets. (those surefires look so much more tempting now) any others feel the same way?

Yeah, I definately am. I've modified some jackets and a vest for concealed carry so I look forward to carrying some bigger blades, just for grins.

I modify all of my jackets to include at least one inside pocket for small goodies. (Knives, firestarting gear, etc.)

That's really sick. I was thinking the same thing the other day, but would have never admitted/posted it. And with all the additional added hours of darkness - along with all the pockets - I will be able to rotate carry of my new nifty flashlights!

As a responsible adult, I would NEVER think of carrying a concealed knife. :D

I do carry them, I just don't think about it. It's a reflex reaction. ;)

As a teenager, we used to cut out the pockets of old jeans and sew them into our jean jackets.

I don't spend a lot of time outdoors, so not really.
The Walking Man doesn't go outside? Where do you walk, at the mall? Sorry I couldn't resist ;)

As for the cold weather and coats, besides having more pockets coats are nice for covering fixed blades on your belt. I still hate winter though :grumpy:

I love WINTER! Fall is my favorite time of the year.

More pockets, heavy shirts and my vests and coats.

Covers my .45 Sig and my 1911's so perfectly. I am tempted to wear a light vest in the summer but it shouts I am carrying things! So summer I go to the smaller Sig 239 .357 for carry.

Also I carry an extra heavy duty knife on my belt, in addition to my two folders. I can carry knives at work openly so I am lucky as hell. I just don't carry a MONSTER fixed blade around.

This year winter carry for me will be:

Sig P220 .45 IWB in Fist holster, Strider AR folder, and Strider DB fixed blade on belt.

Yes, absolutely, I enjoy having all kinds of new options.

There is a down side though. I think I told this story in another thread last year, but I'll tell it again. I have an anorak (pullover) for outerwear, which has a large zippered kangaroo pouch and an even larger handwarmer pouch underneath. While standing in the theater lobby after a movie, I pulled my anorak over my head. Unfortunately, I had left the pouch unzipped and dumped my daily carry all over the floor. Rather embarrassing to pick up all my stuff, while less "prepared" folks stood around gawking...:o :D

What cooler weather. I am just getting my 'stubbies' and t-shirts out of winter storage. I'll have to wear a neck knife.

I love the cold. I dress nicer and don't have to worry so much about being hot and sweaty. I am still carrying the usual knives but I change my SD knife to be more of thrusters instead of slashers.

I can start carrying my Gene Ingram fixed blade again! During the summer time I tuck in my shirts so I switch to my CRKT M-1 folder inside my waist band so the sheeple don't freak out. Now that winter's here I can go back to a fixed blade EDC.

I was pretty happy to bust out my Filson Packer this morning and loaded half the gear from my field bag into it :)

I too prefer colder weather with fall as my fav. You can only take off so many clothes when it's 100+ outside, but you can always put on another layer in winter. Of course, we don't have to worry about ankle deep snow down here in the land of cotten...:D

Right now the temperatures are perfect (30s/40s). I need to get a new heavy winter coat and I'll be picking one with lots of pockets:)

You know, I've been wanting to get a fishing vest, turn it inside out, and sew it into my coat, making it like the lining of the coat. Whoo boy talk about alot of pockets!
