I've had these pic's on my computer filed under "other people's awesome work" for a while but I can't remember who's it is or find the post. Who's knife is this?

Never seen that before but it is cool as heck. Would love to get some specs on it!

That might be bower bladeworks I remember seeing a customized mini spyderco southard on his YouTube

Too little material above the spydie hole for me, but I love this generally. Was a big fan the first time I saw it.

I'm seriously wanting to get one and doing this, I'm considering what I would do with the butt of the handle, how I'd shape it and if I'd reuse the stock clip or use a deep carry option since it has to be drilled and tapped either way but I'm definitely leaving more material on the spine, the stock thickness and squared corners and large/deep jimping are some of the best features of the knife IMO.

But yes that's a beautiful knife

That's quite an elegant mod.

Thanks for the video, it sucks about why he had to go so short, makes sense but sucks still. Wish 3" was possible without a liner delete. I'd like to see the video he's talking about in his video.

That is cool.
I have asked other to let me do this . Bower does a bangin job on those. I love what he does.
If anybody wants to. I would love to the get a Southard into my CHOP shop. It seems people are often afraid to totally re design a knife. But it does work sometimes.

Hi Cereal_killer. What liner delete are you referring to? The liner is still on his knife.

In the video he points out a 3" blade wouldn't be possible without deleting the liner as some of the holes in the factory liner prevent it from being cut any longer or there wouldn't be any liner material at the end.He said he was forced to go that short to cut in front of one (or possible more) of the holes.

Ah, that's right. It's been a while since I watched the video. Did he say how long is the final blade shape? I love this mini-mod.

2.75"

Are you having any issues posting in this thread? I'm having horrible problems but only in this one thread.

This isn't the same knife, but it is the same idea, courtesy of Andy B. K. Haas.

Step by Step:
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | Update

Step 1 really illustrates why the liner had to be cropped where it was.

That mini Southard is suuuuper sick! Looks like a lot of work and attention to detail went into it. Would love to do that to mine someday.
