Man, I'm super stoked about the double stuff 2.

It's gonna have a CBN stone side that will be able to handle sharpening much better then that brown ceramic that loads and glazes too fast.

It will be awesome to have a super abrasive to go with my super steels

Any one else stoked?

I wonder when they are coming?

Pretty stoked myself!
The stone I keep in my truck in an EDC bag is getting worn out and needs replaced!
I haven't ever owned a gen 1 double stuff. Assuming they're dimensionally identical how big are they?
Also going to be grabbing a black/black para 3 and a maxamet PM2... possibly a Shaman as well haven't decided on that one yet.

I am ready. I have been waiting for it for quite a while. I will probably get two. I actually learned as a kid how to sharpen on pocket stones and although I have added other techniques to my arsenal I am still very comfortable sharpening with a knife in one hand and a stone in the other and regularly sharpen with pocket stones even when at home where I have all my bench stones.

It is coming in at a higher price point than I was hoping for. The Doublestuff is $30 and the Doublestuff2 is $45 but that won't stop me. I have been waiting for there to be a pocket stone that can compete with the Falkniven DC4 which I use all the time. The DC4 is only $22 however. I am looking forward to picking the DS2 up and comparing them. There are very few options for diamond/ceramic pocket stones so despite the price I am quite eager to get my hands on one.

If this was available a few years ago I might have never bought a DMT Diafold C/F...

I like that setup so much that I now own multiples, and carry them with a 4" fine white ceramic stone, which gives a 300, 600, 1000 grit range.

Might have to get one or two of these

Yeah I'll probably get two of them myself. I'm kind of a fanatic about Spyderco's great sharpening equipment. I also hope that they do the GOLDENSTONE in more grits too. The fact that there are going to be rounded, radii on the edges is going to be huge for touching up Spyderedges and other serration patterns as well.

I'm also anxious for the GAUNTLET system and the Sprint Run of the 701 Profiles. It is interesting that they put the radii sharpening curves on the new DOUBLESTUFF 2. It just goes to show you that Spyderco has always got something great coming down the pipeline. Their sharpening equipment is just as high quality as their great blades are IMO.

Any more news on this one. I have 3 modified hawkbill traditional knives and this would sure help out.

I would like to see some more details on how thick and rounded that part is.

I haven't heard anything of late concerning this new, upcoming DOUBLESTUFF 2 stone that's supposed to be hitting the market soon. But that's not unusual for Spyderco's products to be slow in getting to the marketplace. I've been very patiently waiting for their GAUNTLET sharpening system to be released since about 2 years ago. But so far all I've seen and heard of are a few prototypes.

I'm hoping that the DOUBLESTUFF 2 will at least be out by the end of the summer. Spyderco has more stuff in their product pipeline at this present time that I've seen since I've been following the company ( 1995).

Was wondering if the cbn on the double stuff 2 is coated or bonded in resin? I only ask because it appears to be a solid thickness of cbn rather than a piece of steel or aluminum Coates with cbn.

@Sal Glesser @tazkristi would you have more info on this? Will they be less fragile? Will they also be the same grit as the rods (400 mesh)? Any time frame (tho no need to answer if it's too variable).

I'm not only looking forward to the Doublestuff 2 I'm also salivating for the GAUNTLET System, The Sprint Run of 701 Profile stones and the new base for the GOLDENSTONE as well as the GOLDENSTONE in more grit selections. Thank GOD I've been getting a lot of extra work hours lately because I get the feeling that the product pipeline for Spyderco's sharpening tools is really going to huge in the next few months.

I lost both my original Doublestuff stones and I may not replace them if this new Doublestuff 2 is going to be that much better. But on the other hand I really always loved the original Doublestuff>> I hope this DoubleStuff 2 is a big improvement because I think there are more and more people looking for pocket sharpeners for the serrated blades too.

I am with you JD! I am in for two Doublestuff2s and two full sets of the 701s. Those and the Maxamet Military are the only things really on the horizon for me at the moment. I am keeping some funds on hand for all of these.

Yeah I might even be in for that Maxamet Military myself. I've heard good stuff about it. So we need this new Sharpening Hardware for these newer blade steels especially. Some of these newer/better steels are close to the point to where "diamond" may be the only sharpening tools that will do them right.

I'm hoping that Spyderco eventually does more with CBN, diamond and for them to explore other sharpening media down the road. But this DOUBLESTUFF 2 , 701 Profile Sprint Run and the new GOLDENSTONE Base a new grits are all a big step in the right direction.

Gotta try this. Do they make CBN rods for the Sharpmaker? I have exactly 0 luck with the diamond coarse rods. The knives just seem to skip off the tops of the diamond grit.

Yes cbn tri maker rods have been available for a few years now. You have to use them very lightly. Some folks like them better than the diamond it seems.

I've even heard that on this upcoming Sprint Run of the 701 Profiles that there will be a CBN version of the 701 Profile available. We've needed wider grit selections for all of these Spyderco sharpening tools for some time now and I'm really encouraged that they are becoming available soon.

I think that the Doublestuff 2 is really going to raise the bar on pocket sized sharpening tools. Like I said earlier I love what's coming down the product pipeline with Spyderco's new sharpening tools.
