Who's taken apart their 'Zaan? How did you do it?

Got a 'Zaan coming in, and I want to be able to disassemble it without marring the finish. I saw that PiterM has a tool made which looks great. I've also seen someone using a adjustable pin/spanner wrench. What success have you had? Or do you have any suggestions?

That's good to hear. I hope the one I have coming in is the same way.
Anybody have any suggestions just in case it is tight?

If you're careful I've had great success with spring clip pliers (for round internal or external expansion clips) specifically right angle pliers. Took off a surefire U2 retaining ring on the tailcap which is loctited. Good luck.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe using something to coat the metal with Plasti-dip or even just tape to protect the knife's finish.

spend some time and make a set of good specialized tools. It is worth the effort in case of $400 knife (which is even much more in EU when you add all taxes). Just my $0.02

I only wish I could make a decent tool to take apart the Um. For the meantime, I have to depend on one of you guys to get me through this.
