Who's thinking about getting the Espada?

So how many of you folks out there have picked up the CS Espada--or plan on getting one of the upcoming models? I think only the large version (5 1/2" blade) is available for purchase right now, but the medium (3 1/2" blade) will be released in a few days, then the extra large (7 1/2" blade) at the end of next month.

Yes, the ad copy is silly, and yes the antics of LT are off-putting. That said the extra large Espada has got me drooling. Even bigger than the Rajah. I'm not sure exactly how practical (or safe) it will be to carry, but, damn that is one hell of a big knife for a folder. Is anyone aware of another folder with a heavy 7 1/2" blade, weighing in at almost a pound?

I think a lot of people buy Cold Steel knives just for a novelty. I handled the 6" Voyager the other day and loved it! Super heavy and impractical, doesn't even fit in my pocket yet I don't care!

Yeah, Cold Steel definitely offers some eccentric and eclectic items. But what fun for a knife enthusiast. I don't think there are many manufacturers out there that would be willing to take a chance of some of the gonzo stuff CS has done.

And as for that hulking extra large Espada, well, when the "knife lust" sets in this bad it usually means a package will be coming in the mail a few days later...

I don't care about CS's ad's, what bothers me is their annoying habit of putting lettering on their products.

Okay -- I'm ready to admit the extra large Espada is just way too much knife. I thought I was man enough, but alas, no. But I'm dying to hear about someone's experience with it once it's released. Who is crazy enough to carry something like that as an EDC?

Instead I ordered up the large (a mere 5 1/2" blade, and 12 1/4" overall) which I found for a song out there on the interwebs. Will post a review once my friend the mailroom guy stops by my desk with a little package...

Hey Chas, I'd be interested in some comparison shots with your Rajah I. The 5.5" blade is a little more legal in some areas...

ROCK6

You got it, Rock. Anything over 4" is pretty suspicious under any circumstances... I guess the trick is to be discrete.

Don't have a mini-griptilian, but I'll stack it up next to a medium Voyager for the photo shoot.
