I understand that one or more of the long time "buck nut" posters here have complied a list of actual names, and perhaps geographical locations (i.e., addresses), that correspond with user ID's, not only here, but on ebay as well. If that is the case, could that information be posted here without compromising anyone, or, if not, could someone email me that information? It appears that most of the "regulars" already pretty much know one another, and I have made individualized contact with several of you as well. My reason for asking is that as I make contact with more and more of you all, I find that some actually live fairly close by, one as near as 70 miles. It would be great, at least from my perspective to actually meet others in person, during my traveling and share stories. So what do you all think??

I'd guess it would be wise to restrict something like that to long-term members or people who long-term members would vouch for and thus authenticate.

I don't have a big and valuable accumulation, but many do.

"Hey all you folks with expensive knife collections, can you post your names and address' online"......

Yeah, that's a brilliant idea!

Yep, that's (on-line posting) certainly a concern that never originally crossed my mind; dumb idea!! Nevertheless, I certainly would not mind sharing my personal information with others, especially BCCI members, by some other means, especially since it appears that some regular users already have this information in any case.

Hey Tin Sue, I am sure you already have my info. If you need it again, just shoot me an email.

Thanks,
John

I suppose that guys/gals here can share that info with you if they want. The more paranoid members, such as myself, may not choose to do that.
I was going to start my own list. It was only going to have peoples names, forum name, email address, and ebay name. The reason is because I get correspondences in a vast array of forms and have a very hard time remembering who it is each time.
I think it could be a full time job maintaining that list so I decided to stay confused. :)

I think it would help if you showed your location in your profile so it shows up below your join date on the top of your posts.

Mike, thanks for the "heads up" on that point. I just added that, so it should be up now and in the future.

I.

And perhaps this was just a very bad idea on my part.:( I just wanted to get to know who people actually were as it appears many of the long time users actually do. :) Joe's most likely correct in that many would just prefer to remain confused.

heee heee heee ...that's ok Joe, not to worry your self none...
i mean it is not like we have an idear were you work, do we now ?!:p;):D

Hey, that's the advantage,(but don't you 110 guys change), to my beloved 300's. They all go into one heavily attached and built in small gun case. Also Mr. Wesson and Mr. sawed-off live close at hand. I don't mind personal emails or contact with regulars/BCCI members. If you tell me what you need or what you want, I won't bid against you if you see it first. Tit for tat also.

TS knows where as I live and which 300s I really, really need. As do others. Oh and by the way two of my really good friends, one is an IRS agent and the other owns the funeral home. I have shown them good huntin' spots so they owe me...... nuff said. 300$s

Ouch! "Death" and Taxes"; hope those are really productive hunting spots so neither comes collecting!!:D

Dang TS, now ya done gone and give away the area where you were finding all those 560's :p:D.

We'll do the coffee thing one of these days if I ever get out from under this job I took on for my brother.

Hi!
My name is Goose.
I like holding hands while walking on the beach, soft baby ducks, pizza, Mexican and Italian food, and my steak medium-rare.
I am a smoker and social drinker (but I am very social).
I am an Aires.

Just 'cause yer paranoid don't mean 334Dave ain't stalking you!

Well I've known that for a while. Good thing is he is nearly as confused as I am so I have nuthing to worry about!

You know, I do get too many phone calls from people who had their knives on display in their homes, and robbers took them all. But I really think that most of those crimes were commited by local thugs. IMHO it would be a very long shot to think that someone might be lurking here to find out where a collector lives, just so he/she can rob them.
I might be all wet on this but if I were one of the bad guys, I might be thinking that if a guy collects knives, maybe I oughta leave him alone. Otherwise I might leave his house looking like a pin cushion.

Well Joe, if true, that should be even more true with guns.

Unfortunately, it doesn't stop crooks. Good stuff like guns and knives are TARGETS. If they find out you have them and know where you live, you're at risk. That's why I shudder at people compiling lists of collectors. I even hate to see people with bumper stickers about knives and guns.....it's asking for trouble, because if you're enthusiastic enough to have a bumper sticker--you're probably worth following home.

The bad guys can stake you out, find a pattern and be in and out in five to ten minutes at a time they know the house is empty.

Keeping a low profile is just as important as a neighborhood watch, good locks and an alarm system. Keeping everything in a safe is good, but I want to have a few things out and I don't want to lose any of them.

BTW, I messaged on the Custom Shoppe page about the mistake on the website's 110 picture (the number of rivets showing).

I also ordered a 110 in walnut because of the good advertising that was done here a few days ago. Hope I get as lucky as he did on the wood.
