When I was first starting to look at custom knives, I was greatly impressed by the work of Raymond Richard. I've since been exposed to tons of other excellent makers through this board, but I still keep going back to Raymond.
 
CAS & Ryan W. There are many great makers who may be better but I love CAS's san mai knives and Ryan is just so impressive for being a newer maker. This is just my personal opinion.
