And why? I have two. James Ayres and Ed Fowler. I love reading their articles, and the way they write about their experiences makes me feel as if I'm right there next to them.

Bill Herndon, because he's a good old dude that has done it all in the world of knives, especially when it comes to injuries! I love his shop safety articles! LOL!

Steve Dick and Jerry VanCook (sorry, but his writing always has a certain style and entertainment value that others lack...in other words, his stuff is not only informative, but actually fun to read). I liked Butch Winter's stuff, too, before his untimely passing.

My favorite knife writers are right here on Bladeforums. Sadly some are not with us any more. Walt Welch and James Mattis were two of the best.

Ed Fowler. He doesn't just describe making a knife, or a knife he bought somewhere. He takes the reader on an adventure, even if it is only to his shop.

Oh yeah, second on the list is Kim Breed. He's not afraid to tell you whats wrong with a knife!

Again, for third, Jerry Vancook. Sorry to piggyback on everyone, but you all keep on bringing up my favorite writers.

I didn't even think about Bladeforums. But I remember James Mattis, and he was indeed a gifted writer. He also had a way with scanners, and his site often had some of the best knife images on the web.

Buzzbait and Kliff Stump are a couple of other Bladeforums members whose posts I find enjoyable.

I like Cliff Stamp's reviews. Not only is he very knowledgeable and thorough, but he is totally objective and honest. Those who write for commercial publications usually have to tone things down so as not to offend advertisers. Cliff's reviews are the closest thing I have found to a "Consumer Reports" for knives.

I tend to like the articles that our very own Dexter Ewing writes. Most of his articles concern the knives that I like best.

another vote for stephen dick, i have talked to him in person a few times at o.k.c.a., cool guy.
