why a difference tween my two paramils??

I just received a new paramilitary and there are distinct differences in an "older'' paramilitary that I have.
New one has thicker lockplate and longer also.
new has thinner standoffs at lanyard end.

Anyone know why the changes?
I'm one hand only for a bit so I haven't used either knife to put torque on the older one to see if a potential lock failure is present.
