Why a SOG Desert Dagger?

I was digging through my knives last week and I came upon my SOG Desert Dagger, an impulse purchase I made on the internet a few years back (I hadn't seen Kill Bill yet, I had no idea it's the knife she used). Since I now found this informative forum, I thought I'd ask the question I had when I received the knife. What is it good for?
I like double edged daggers and have several, which is why I bought it in the first place. I know they're made for stabbing. But the Desert Dagger has always struck me as way to light to give me confidence in actually hitting someone with it. Not that I doubt it'd hurt them quite a bit, but it doesn't have the solid reliablity of my full sized Fairbane or even the Gerber Mark I or II. Both the hilt and the blade just seem light/weak when I handle it. I did find one web site that touted it's use as a 'martial arts fighting knife,' but the site was way to mall-ninja for me to take what he said to seriously.
Does it have a specialized role/nitch it was made for that I'm not aware? I'm not planning on getting rid of the knife, but just curious on what thoughts you guys might have. Thanks.

Gulf War 1991.
Originally the Desert Patriot.
And then Desert Dagger.
War was over in 100 hours.
And so was the idea of marketing it to the boys in green (or is that chocolate-chip)!
But , who is to say what really happened?
