Everyone talks so highly about Busse knives, yet it seems that half the postings in the Production knives for sale by individuals Exchange forum are busses.

What's the deal?

The new Busse line is about to be up for sale -- 15 new models, so all the Busse fans are unloading some excess infi to buy some of the new knives.

The sellers are making room for NEW! IMPROVED! Busse knives.

Seriously - many of those Busse buyers are truly knife hogs, hogging up as much steel as they can (or can't) afford and can't possibly use.

There are a lot of tweaked designs coming out, so out with the old, in with the new.

I wondered the same thing; this really started about 2-3 months ago and it makes you think they know something we don't, like Armageddon is coming:eek:

You can see the same cycle with other makers/collectors. Strider Knives comes to mind. With the Tac AR/GB out now, there are more AR/GBs and SnGs for sale on the secondary market than ever before I think.

I don't think, if Armageddon were coming, that the Jerry Krishnas would be getting rid of their Busses. That's when you'd want them most.

That's not why I sold mine :( .

Aw, crap. Now you discovered our secret; Busses are actually some of the worst knives on the market! Don't bother buying any...just leave them for those with too much money to spend.

;)

I would guess it is the imminent release of the new line, and the recent promise of custom features being easier to obtain.

The funny thing about the knives in the For Sale forum is that almost all of them are safe queens. Busse makes a knife that could survive cannon fire, but a big chunk of them have never even cut paper.

What new line?

Kinda sad about so many of them being safe queens, isn't it? :(

Send them to me and I'll use them!!! :D

This sounds like a severe SBR (Severe Buyers Remorse) epidemic, and it seems to be spreading. We are working on a cure, but it might take some time. It is hoped some of these knives will survive, but thousands have been put to sleep already...Stay Tuned!

The only knives for sale on the Busse site at the moment are the Active Duty and the Assault Shaker. The entire Combat Grade line is discontinued, but there are a handful of 'Fusion' models coming soon to replace them. Very different handles and a couple of new blade features.

Many, many new models were displayed at BLADE. Orders were taken and eyes were a poppin' so the old faithful /E handle line is being thinned out to make room for the new models I would suppose. Jerry posted about new sales procedures, integration with production batching and semi-custom features being available in a recent thread on the Blade Forums Busse Combat board.

And whats not being mentioned is that some of the people selling have multiple knives of different versions, so are selling spares.

A lot of the Busse knives for resale are from special runs of limited numbers, sold on a first come, first serve basis. Many Busse afficianados order several of these and later put them up for sale, usually at a profit.

Also, for the last couple of months Busseholics have been raising funds for the Blade show. And the introduction of the new line has many reducing their collections to buy the new line.

Many Busse addicts, me included, will acquire two of any model they particularly like, one as a user and one as a safe queen.

One of the current heavy sellers is raising funds for nursing school.

This spate of sales has been a godsend for those like me who needed to round out their collections.

lol, no kidding....can't wait to get mine :)

I also think it's a cycle issue. The Blade Show does this every year on the trade/sale forums. Seems to start around April and go till around now. Definately higher Busse activity that I'd expect right now with no release date set for the new series.

Did someone say safe queens? Yep, sounds like most of my knives. I'm mostly a collector :D
