Why Am I Having Such A Hard time?

I am trying to pick up a couple of knives. For my nephew I'll get the Ka Bar 7" plain edge.

Now for myself...this is where I'm having a tough time.

I am looking to get a Christmas gift for myself...ya think that the wife and kids would be able to get me something other than socks or ties, right?

My large camp/utility knife is a SOG Tigershark, and my daily carry blade is the BM710. I am looking for a fixed blade military/tactical knife.

My choices so far are:

Becker BK7
SOG Gov Tac
SOG Bowie...any in that series

I would conside the Ka Bar, because of the steel and from what I understand the 1095 make for an incredible edge, but I don't care for the angle of the tip. I don't know, maybe I'm just being too particular.

I've also looked at the Ka Bar with the tanto tip...what can you all tell me about tanto type tips?

I am hoping to make my decision today, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

As other said: get e BK while you can, the others will be there for sure next Christmas.

I misread your post.. Was going to point out what a good camp/utility the becker would be but I see you are looking to fill a different role. I would still get the becker though!

Go Becker. They are getting increasingly difficult to find. If I don't get coal this Christmas, I may find a becker of some sort under the tree.

You will be hard pressed to find any knife much tougher then the Fehrman knives. I have 4 models and they are all tough and will last a lifetime.

They are a tool & die company who make knives also so they know their business when it come to working steel. Their knives are made from 3V steel.
