Why am I so lame? I still dont consistently mark my blades. I have some aversion to etching....the variables, solutions, etc just dont appeal to me.....i havent found the time/effort to getting a custom stamp made, either.

Many of my knives have featured a boxed-off secton at the very tang with a nicely fileworked "S", but that is too vague....

What are my other homegrown options? I know I should just pony up and make an etcher and buy some stencils and I'll hear alot fo that, but has anyone here ever made their own metal stamps? Anyone stamp their handles somehow?

What are "alternative" marking methods?
 
You could use an engraver and just write your name, but that looks like poop.
Pony up the money and get a stamp :) or Stencil. I'm in the process of getting some stencils as we speak.
 
Bite the bullet and buy an etcher and get some stencils made up. I've thought about having a stamp made over the years and also about making one myself but etching is so simple and if you screw up not all that hard to fix.
