Why are SOGs so inexpensive?

Hey everyone,
I was wondering, why are SOG knives so inexpensive? It seems to me that knives that are cheap in price would be cheap in performance. Is this true with SOGs or are they pretty good knives for the money? Thanks in advance!

Hi Asha'man,

Do I know you? Do you work with me at SOG?

If not you certainly have given me the best and easy question I'll ever get here in the forums!

I'll state up front that some might differ with your opinion on this (and this would not be an appropriate thread for a debate on who has the best or worse prices), but we do feel we offer product that has an excellent reputation, offers attractive and useful designs, using an assortment of great materials, all at a competitive price.

Thanks for your enthusiastic support!

Well, I wouldn't expect you (Ron@SOG) to say anything bad about your knives

, but thanks for the info anyway. I'm basically looking to accumulate legal-length, quality folders for a reasonable price. Sounds like I can consider SOG a definite possibility. Thanks for your help!

If you want a good deal on a knife, look no further than the Jetedge. I feel it is one of the VERY best deals on the knife market. ATS-34, Carbon Fiber frame, and slick as sh;t on a pig. You just can't beat the price on ANY other carbon fiber knife. period.

They aren't super inexpensive, but they are super.. I used an AutoClip for 4 years at work and it's still in good shape (after much abuse).

My SOG X-Ray Vision's blade is not made in the U.S of A. That may be one reason for it's great price. I'm thinking about a plain edge X-Ray to add to my collection. The Vision knifes are the coolest blades on the planet..

Well, for an almost college student I wouldn't say they're inexpensive, but they are super knives. My brothers and I currently own five SOGs, a Seal 2000, a Seal Pup, a Pentagon, a Pentagon Elite, and a Recondo...they've all held up great and they're a ton of fun.

Did I mention that they're the best looking fixed blade knives I've ever seen?
