Why aren't there any 707's on the secondary market?

Just speculating why there arnt any 707's for sale used (other than the occasional BNIB M390 version that someone bought to flip). I'm wondering, is it just because the 707 isn't as popular as say the mini-grip which you usually see another of for sale on the exchange every day or could it be that when someone buys a 707 they just fall in love with it and never care to part with it? I mean I've seriously never seen a standard one for sale on the X since I've wanted one, what gives?

this is not a WTB! I'm seriously asking the question, please dont close/move this there, 2 days from Xmas I'm not in an position to buy a $100+ knife, let along anything else, thx

Saw a 705 yesterday in the for sale forum. But I too have not seen many for sale. I did recently buy the M390 version. I debated on buying a 707 for over a year, but didn't want the 154CM steel. S30V would have been fine but M390 is awesome.

I'm holding on to my blue/carbon fiber, plain edge satin bladed Matt's limited edition #90 of 140 707-1201. Even though I would have preferred grippy G10 inlays and the knife is really too thin to be a comfortable user. My other satin comboEdge 707 might be another story. :)

From what I have read in this and other forums is owners of the 707 Sequel are very happy with it and that is probably why none of them are for sale.

After getting a 707 for edc I haven't carried a mini grip much easier to edc looking for another in 390 but the price keeps me away.

I wouldn't sell mine. My copy is in 154CM and edge holding is good enough for my use. While I might like one in a steel with better edge retention, I have no great desire for one in S30V, and I don't want one enough to pay twice as much for one in M390 than 154CM. Benchmade's 154CM is not as nice as their M4, but it is good enough for my purposes.
I would really like one in M4 and clear Ceracote, but at a fair price, not twice that of 154CM.

As others have said, its just that good. It has the same blade length and steel as a mini grip but in a much thinner, easier to carry package. If only I could get some Titanium scales for my second 707 like Wilkins makes for the mini grip :D but I will stick to my Keyman scales until that happens.

Its that good of a knife that hardly anyone wants to sell.

+1

I really like mine. Much more refined than the mini grip. Good steel for EDC use.
I would LOVE to get an M390 one, but the price is not worth the upgrade. I will stick with my 581 with 3.6" of M390 for much lower cost.

Actually no, I don't use eBay unless absolutely necessary and I never buy knives from there. I pretty much stick to the X here for used/private sales.
Fascinating. I would never purchase a production knife without first checking the lowest price available from a reputable eBay seller. That's the barometer I use to establish street pricing. And I, for one, don't like buying in the dark. But hey, that's just me. :)
