Why did I do it to myself?

I'm a proud owner of two Rats, a Bog Dog and a Battle Rat (thanks thatmguy and ratfinkenstein), and plan on getting a Camp Tramp in the next few months. I was originally looking for Busse, but I figured that, I could only afford Rats! Why oh why did I do that to myself? Well, I'm back, and looking for INFI! Now, which one do I get FIRST? No offense Eric and the crew at the Swamp, I'm still a Rat at heart. I just have a little PORK in my blood ;) :D :) !

Well, truth be told- Eric is a big Porker, so he will forgive you.

Rats are the Gateway Drug to Busse, so it was only a matter of time before you come crawling in, jonesing for a fix!

If you want a Busse right now, order a Hell Razor, Pork Belly Skinner, or AK-47 from the company store. If you want any other blade, post in WTB.
If you want to order one just the way you want it, get a War Boar.

As far as which Busse you should get- I dunno, I like them all.

I think you will come to see that it was not a bad move to get the Swamp Rats, instead of going directly to Busses. There's room for both Swamp Rats and Busses in a well rounded set of cutlery. The Swamp Rats tend to be a little more comfortable and a little more efficient in use (Resiprene C handles, more acute edge angles, etc.), and the Busses tend to be even more "nuclear tough" (harder to chip, more corrosion resistant, etc.).

Which Busse should you get, first? That depends on whether you are a user or a collector, and... if you are a user... what kind of use.

and thats why my wallet is cowering in a corner, I think I saw the credit card sneaking out with a pair of scissors.

What will I be doing with the Busse I buy? I will be using them, my buying plan begins with, if I won't use it, I can't afford it. I would like to get some smaller personal, BOB style Busse. I would also like something in the 5" to 7" range, that I can use while camping or just for utility. Also, big choppers like my Battle Rat that I can use for utility work. I'm not in LE, or combat, just a user. Maybe something for my truck for SHTF purposes, or usual truck uses.

You should check out the Heavy Duty that Border Shift has for sale over in the knife exchange forum. I can't believe someone hasn't snapped it up yet, it would be perfect to carry in your truck.

Heavy Duty is a nice EDC size blade, if you like them small.

Mike is more than correct. I also started out on Rats and still own and use my main 3. HR, CT, and BR. They have and will continue to serve me well.

Rats led to Busse, but at first I was mainly collecting since it was really hard to put a ding in such an expensive knife.

Then, as more than a few passed through my hands, some were just SO perfect for me and my uses you could just not avoid using them.

The collecting slowed down and the using went up. Most of the safe queens went to other safes, but that tight hard neucleus stayed and is being put to use.

Busse or Swamp Rat? Whatever is right for the job and in the easiest reach. I'm not too particular. Neither is my wife (she did marry me LOL), right now there is a Bog Dog, Thin NICK and a 4" Mora on the kitchen counter. She grabs whatever she needs to cut with.
