As the title suggests....Why do they not sell the parts kits anymore? My delica is missing a d-bolt and a phosphor bronze washer...

If you can't afford that, you couldn't afford the parts kit either. As for why they stopped selling them, my guess would be that demand dropped off once people either learned not to take them apart, or learned how to put them back together without breaking them.

Hi outdoorfamilyman,

As mentioned, the demand didn't support the inventory. Also e are having a problem with customers taking knives part and the parts just encouraged the problem.

BTW I don't thin Yab meant any insult. Parts are a big problem these days.

It is a problem. You have a big shelf of parts for all the knives and sell 2% of them. Then you wind up needing space for parts for all the new knives and have to scrap the old stuff, it turns into a huge write off every year when you count the inventory. To deal with the cost you have to charge 10x for the kits you do sell and people complain that they're paying $25 for six 2 cent screws.

I never said I had the money to buy the parts kit right now. I was just curious why they didn't sell them anymore. Thank you for caring about my finances and reminding me why I don't post in Spyderco forums...

No insult intended, I just seem to recall the price of the parts kit being more than the cost of sending one in for repair.

Sal, thank you for your response...

Yab, I misread your response and assume snarkiness where there was none. My apologies. I thought the kits were around 15 to 20 bucks which would have been an easier amount to come up with faster than the 30+ to send it in.
I'll be sending it in eventually.
