Why different scale times with years between?

First, sorry for my english, it's not perfect ;)

I own and owned several Sebenzas, small and large, regular an classic and some with Inlays and i love them really.

But one thing interested me: why where some Sebenza scales made with such big time difference? My brand new one is a Small Classic from January 2008 and the scales were made B04 and B07? Ok, B07 is normal for an 2008 Sebenza, but why B04?

The extrem difference i found on a Sebbi i owned some time ago was this:

It's from the same Sebbi and this was bought new and that was the first time it was opened.

Is this normal or a minor mistake? Whats not so nice: these Sebenzas got differences on the chamfers, the chamfers on the newer scales were always little bigger. :(

My "guess" is one of two reasons. I know for sure that the titanium comes in different lots or batch numbers. They are probably not matched up together. The reason I would think is the lock side has a lot more attention to detail due to the heat treating, champfers, cuts, and detent lock bar. Not real sure, but my guess anyway. A quick call or email to the factory should answer the question.

I'm betting Blackend is right with the attention to detail on the lock side. But I'm a little confused with the lettering and numbering. You stated that one of the two is from 2007 and I assume that is B05. Is the number not in direct relation with the year?

The photos are of a different Sebenza than Mr.S is speaking of. That's of one Sebenza he owned a while ago, and the handles were made in the 2. quarter of 2005 and 4. quarter of 2000.

Right, i'm talking about 2 different Sebenzas. The one i own is the new one, year 2008 with scales from B07 an B04.

The other one i owned (but sold) is the one from the picture. It was from 2006 with scales from B05 an D00.

By the way, does anyone know since when there's a date on the scales?

Right, got it. I still don't understand the three year time span. I have a Sebbie built in July 2007 but those handles were milled in B06. I can understand this time difference because I assume there are not many left hand Sebenza sold in comparison to how many handles they have on hand and verses right handed knives. The difference in time from one side to the other of the same knife is a little funny. Maybe it is just luck of the draw.
