I saw on another post that REKAT is discontinuing the neck knives. Why? These are great little knives that serve a great purpose. I wear my fang almost all the time. I would hate to see a great thing disappear.

When we introduced the neck knives two years ago ther was no factory low cost neck knives out there. Now everyone and their brother has joined in and the market is very deluted. Some good products some POS.
Being small as we are we have to make a decision on what to build and where to put our efforts, The Rolling Lock makes us unique ( because of the patent) and we feel the market is best served in building folders and new products..
We will finish the last of the neck knives and unless somthing changes we will discontinue them this year. Also we are using a very expensive coating on a very inexpensive knife. BlackT at the consumer level is $10.00 we looked at cheapning the knife with a Teflon Powder Coat or plain powder coat but unless we can do it right 100% we chose not to do it.
Hope that answeres your question.

Some days it's not worth chewing through the restraints and escaping.

I understand your point. That being said, there are very few companies that make a neck knife that matches the quality of REKAT. Certainly none for the price. Obviously you cant continue making the knives just for me. Is there any chance of future runs?

If you are getting them for gifts get me one! Does anyone know of any good sources for these. It seems they are scarce.

Bob-

Would you consider going back to a "stainless" steel?- like VG10?

and
we feel the market is best served in building folders and new products.

I've got a ton of folders, why would I want another >7" black handled folder? I really wanted one of your green Fangs, but I really don't like purchasing "close-outs". The only reason I originally heard of your company was due to your neck knives.

The reason I heard about REKAT, like Shootist16 (it was Shootist, right?), was b/c of the neck knives. I know, I harassed you over in the open forum, but I'm gonna do it again here. I like folders, and I like neck knives. I figured that the Rolling Lock would keep you guys in the green, especially since you've got something going w/ Spyderco. However, I treasure my neck knives more than my folders--there's just something fascinating w/ a skeletonized, one piece knife that you can conceal in various modes of carry. W/ a folder, you've got a clip, a thumb stud or a hole, maybe serrations, and the lock is the only thing that's really given much attention these days, besides the steel used. W/ my neck knives, however, more things are paid attention to, like carry modes, steel, overall aesthetics, comfort, lightness, blah blah. You guys rule in that department. You'll be unique w/ the Rolling Lock, but if you leave the neck knife market, who're we going to compare all the other knives to? I truly believe, and hope others agree, that when it comes to concelament/back-up blades, your Fang and Utility are the standard against which all others are judged. I compare my new Black Cloud Philippine Box Cutter to it all the time, and I love my PBC! Fact is, it's double edged (illegal), looks more aggressive, has a steel retention ring (read "brass knuckle" by LEOs) and basically looks like something you use to kick someone's ass. Not so w/ the Fang, and especially w/ the Utility.

So, what would it take to get you to change your mind? 100 people begging? 200? The BF administrators begging? Us paying more? Please tell us, and, at least for me, I'll do it, and if I can't I'm pretty sure someone else will. In fact, why don't I just post a new topic here, and maybe on the open forums, for all the people who like your neck knives and don't want you to stop making them. Yeah, that's what I'll do...heh heh...
