Why do all the sales threads get the prices removed?

Wouldn't it make sense to leave the prices in place so people could see the pricing trends and gauge the market?

Seriously, though, it's been done ad nauseum. You just need to look in the right forum (this is General Knife Discussion - for talking about knives)
This should help... threads about removing prices

*Those are just the ones that came up with that specific search, in that specific subforum - there are many more...but scrolling through that link will show that this has been a topic for 10 yrs

Edit: thank you for your contribution to my meme collection.

I know what you mean as far as researching prices goes, however people have very strong opinions on this I've learned, one way or the other. My recommendation is go on Reddit under Knife Swap and do your research there.

Great topic. I was wondering this myself. I find it very helpful to know past sale prices. Other platforms require the price to remain in the post.

From memory:
to stop people using prices from the past when negotiating for the same knife now,
to remove records that could be interesting to e.g. the tax authorities,
to stop people from knowing easily how much YOU spent/make on knives,
to stop people from seeing that a knife that sold here for only X amount is now being sold again for XX amount,
out of habit,
seems like the right thing to do
etc.

The threads linked above have the details. You can always see the sold prices on eBay, if you are interested (though not the "make an offer ones" - similarly here if you are selling a knife for X amount and I make you an offer for less, which you accept, that is not usually shown)

I like to see the sold prices, but I do not lose any sleep over if if they are removed.
