Every once in a while I take this out to admire the beauty of it. I've certainly never carried it.

Why? Because you love it just the way it is, too much to chance messing it up. Some would say "get over it", I say do whatever makes you happy!

Some look at knives as tools of which any that dont get used are a waste. I personally feel there is no shame in keeping something minty fresh if you all ready have a ton of knives that fill your daily needs.

If I'm ever dressed up I've made a decision to carry it to the occasion! I'm pretty certain I can keep from losing it. I may need to put a rider on my homeowners insurance first.

Doing whatever you want with your own property? THE GALL!

LOL

I absolutely agree with your assessment.

My current daily driver. It's a crazy knife, but I'm loving its size and build quality. I'm more of a drop tip guy and have a Sebenza 21 small on order. The lack of curve at the tip makes for some weird feel when opening boxes, about the only thing I use a knife for on a daily basis.

Some things are worth having. Enjoy the fruits of your labor and enjoy the beauty of a piece of art in the form of a knife.
That's why.

I can't not carry any knife I own, no matter how expensive, no matter how rare. I can't truly appreciate it if I don't carry it, even if it's just a little bit hey to each his own, enjoy it however you like.

I have one of the first Woman Henry knives made the pearl T10P Lancet, it was a simple well made beautiful knife. I will admit, when I carry it, I baby it and use it for light cutting tasks and I do sometimes just admire and fondle it after all, they make jewelry class knives.

^^Knives have to be carried, if they aren't they can't get memories attached to them. If that doesn't happen then they have no soul.
Just my two cents.
James.

Funny you bring this up. My wife keeps asking me if I would rather a WH or new watch for Christmas. I'm leaning towards the WH and yours helps affirm that decision.

Best,

I keep buying the TAD Mk III Dauntless for similar reasons. I enjoy the styling and how it fits my hand. I had the black G-10 and now have the Green G-10 which I prefer in this folder. Of course, I will NEVER carry it, as it has its own faults.

I don't think you have to carry it to appreciate it... as long as you take her out from time to time to admire (and oil)... or better yet, display somewhere in an acrylic/glass case, then you have simply turned your tool into a piece of art... a very usable piece of art if it comes down to it.

Some people (not all) that can't fathom a knife being other than a tool, also cant understand why someone would have a painting hung on the wall or a sculpture on a table. They're entitled to their opinion, and part of what makes knives as a hobby so great is they can be a tool if you want them to be, or art if you don't... or both!

I should probably clarify. ;-)

The main reason I haven't carried it yet is that I'm a little bit concerned about loss. It is somewhat small. I can more easily stomach a $200 loss than a $700+.

While I have at least half a dozen brand-new in box knives I do view each of them as a future user.

...and a confession. This particular knife was a Christmas gift to me from my brother's in-laws. Yes, you heard that correct. They bought each of us men in the family one. 4 in total. I'll never sell, so it will DEFINITELY get some pocket time. I think if I was ever scrounging for food, I'd use it to slice what I find....maybe that's pushing it really far.

Even this wacky double bevel I'm carrying right now I view as a piece of art to some extent. I had some guys at the gun counter at my LGS admiring it and passing it around. It's so tight yet smooth I'm wondering if it will rival a Sebenza I have on order.
