Why do Salt folders have the old volcano grip scales?

I'm kind of interested in getting one of the H1 folders but the pictures in the catalog make it look like they have the old scales from the previous generation of knives. I don't care for the grip on my old Delica as much as I like the new scales. Is there any particular reason why these are used?

I was wondering the same thing the other day, I would much rather have the Bi-Directional FRN like on the Endura/Delica/Stretch. I never asked why though.

I'd imagine they used the old tooling ($$$) for the linerless Endura3 handles. No liners, no rust.

That's pretty much it. They'd have to retool the newer scales to not have liners in them. Personally, I like the older ones as the fatter pommel feels fine in my hand & they're noticably lighter than a Delica/Endura 4. I believe the same size salt is 2.0/3.0 oz vs 2.5/3.6 oz. Not alot, but a difference.

It keeps cost way down not having to cut a new mold for the handles. I don't mind it, plenty of grip for me.

I don't mind the old style grip. On my E4W I had to sand down the texture as it was tearing my pockets up way too quickly.
