Why do threads disappear and reappear

I being very new here am confounded at seeing whole threads disappear at times and after having seen it and remembering the poster' user name I have been able to use the "find all posts by this user" feature to see the thread yet, it is not listed on the page in the subforum it was posted in. ?? I have noticed this in the Knives for sale forums on 3 separate days. Do posters have the ability to remove threads?

Open up the forum and look at the bottom, check the "Display Options". Maybe your "from the" setting is too short and the threads are no longer displayed.

Maybe you haven't noticed each forum is more than one page. A new post brings a thread to the top. A thread that hasn't been posted in for a while slips back to the second page, and then reappears on the first page when someone makes a new post in it.

You can go to the next page either at the top or the bottom of the page.
