Why do you need a green anvil post?

A while ago, the lady that works at my house was painting some stuff outside the house and painted my anvil post bright green!
It took me some time but I finally got the message: "Keep your shop clean or very soon you won´t be able to find anything that does not glow in the dark!"
Well, I better not try to argue...
