Just curious, what is the purpose of them? If you removed them wouldn't the knife function the same? They already have bronze ones.

You know, in all honesty I don't know the answer to that.
It might be a question for our customer services team.
They can be reached HERE

I have a vague recollection that it may be friction related, but I may be completely wrong :D

Sorry I can't be of more help.
Give our customer services guys a call. They will be able to advise

Teflon is quite slick, thermally stable, and in large amounts very expensive. if you have a low friction metal, phospher bronze, rubbing against metal, ok, but if its rubbing against teflon, and maybe some oil, mmm smooth

They work great to me.

I can feel a definite difference in the old versions that didn't have them and the newer ones that do.

Teflon is very slick even when dry. It is also very, very soft. So if it were thicker there would be blade wobble.

When you want to contact Cold Steel's Customer Service, call them. Email is definitely not the best way to contact them.

Teflon is not that expensive. I have some 1.75" diameter teflon rod bought for making large size body jewelry ear plugs as well as teflon sheet bought for Dobsonian telescope bearings. Quite a number of far more expensive plastics out there.

I replaced the Teflon washers on my 2011 XL Voyager with bronze washers after applying some CRK grease to the pivot area as a whole. It took two of the bronze washers to equal the thickness of the stock Teflon ones (the bronze washers I had were super thin), but man alive is it smooth.

I've convinced CRK grease could make a North/South Korea arms summit run smoothly.

Sorry to raise this thread from the dead, but the plastic washer on the lock side on my old zytel Ti-lite broke for some reason, now i just have one washer, still works fine but lots of wiggle
I guess i will have to go comparing random washers at the hardware store
