I have always asked myself why does not benchmade have a forum here?

I know they have their own forum but why nothing here? for such a big company with many fans?

Ask them. Bladeforums doesn't establish forums for knife manufacturers, it only hosts them. If Benchmade isn't interested, that's the end of it.

Notice Cold Steel and CRKT and Kershaw don't have forums, either. They don't have anyone they want to spare to monitor and moderate one, which is a primary requirement.

I think most of the manufacturer forums here have some sort of representation from the company itself, and that isn't something Benchmade seems to want to provide (even on its own website forums). If I recall, the company simply didn't want a forum here, but there could be more to the store that I'm unaware of.

Humph! I learn somethin' new just about everyday from Esav..thanks! I did not know about the hosting thing.

A Cold Steel forum would be pretty feisty, though, don't you think?

Probably too feisty.

Benchmade used to remove unflattering posts from their forum. I don't know if they still do that, but it wouldn't fly here.

The only requirement we have for manufacturers to have a forum hosted here is that they provide an official representative to moderate it. If you guys want CRKT, or Cold Steel, or Kershaw, or Benchmade to come on board, by all means, ask them to do so. :D

I think Dave H has it right. They have their own forum that they can control. I don't think they could deal with a forum which they didn't control entirely. As an example, I have been banned from the Benchmade forum since it was established. I've never posted there. I couldn't if I wanted to. I don't pretend to understand their angst but apparently it is there and real.

I'm not shy about saying I'm not fond of Benchmade as a company and a group of people but I've never had any goal to try to destroy their forum or company or anything else about them. I have better things to do with life. I don't even sell their products any longer. I'm a non issue in reality but, apparently a potential risk in their minds. They like to control the forum.

As I said, I think Dave has it right. I doubt they would come here. Why not just log in over there?

I'm probably alone but, I tend to prefer not having individual forums. It's just a matter of preference. I like the diverse and random nature of one knife forum and, find it easier to glance at only one forum during the heat of the typical work day.

Very interesting... if you dare to post here you will take some heat. Sometimes some serious heat, and everyone knows if you can't take the heat get out of the ...:D

Why Kershaw doesn't have a forum I do not know...but let's be real, a Cold Steel forum would go to hell in a hand basket really fast. A Benchmade forum would have some ugly posts too.

IIRC, it used to be really bad. They didn't even allow you to name any other forum or knife company. They've lightened up quite a bit since then, although I no longer frequent it(unless I want to pick up a 2nd hand BM :D ).
