Well lets just start out by saying Im done buying sogs and dealing with there company.
The back story:
I sent my sog mini vulcan in for arc lock repairs and other small issues in the beginning of September. After calling there warranty department after 3 weeks of waiting they said the knife was just now being sent to the warranty dept. My first question was why 3 weeks, This is a simple repair? So i posted on the forums my frustration about a week later. Chris from SOG then said he would look into it and message me back when he knew what was going on. (btw thanks chris because your the only one who really helped with anything). Anyways he said the knife was being sent back the next day. I was cool with that.
I got home from class today and got the knife back FINALLY! And when I opened the package I was very unhappy. First of all the knife was sent in with my box which was not sent back, and the knife was sent back dirty as hell. It had what looked to be a thick white dust embedded into the handle
! On top of that the main reason I sent the knife in was to fix the lock which they FAILED to do. This is unacceptable!!!!!!
The only thing they managed to do was to put back on my pocket clip I had taken off and sharpened the blade so that when the blade failed it would make a clean cut instead of a rough cut in my fingers.
Overall problems::thumbdn:
1) The lock has significant blade play in every direction, i dare say its even worse than when i sent it in.
2)The arc lock fails light contact tests every time.
3)The knife is dirty as hell with an unknown white dust
4)Where is my box, this is the least of my problems but still WTF.
5)Why sharpen a blade that is unsecure by the lock.
6)Had to wait just over 5 weeks to get back the same junk lock i sent in.
7) I lost $8 in shipping throughout the whole ordeal.
Overall pros::thumbup:
1)Chris helped me out with my questions
Hope this helps out with anyones questions on why not to buy a sog. Stick with Kershaw, spyderco, CRK, CRKT, etc
Oh btw they sent me a bumper sticker as well to advertise there company, Was that a joke or were they serious?
