Why doesn't anyone like the Apple Coral Kopa?

I don't understand; do people dislike the Apple Coral inlay? I personally think it's one of the best that Spyderco has done; very pretty but not expensive (like say, MOP) and a little more unusual than the cocobolo or the micarta. I think the Apple Coral looks better than the more expensive Tiger Coral and is more interesting than the equally expensive Evrina.

So why were TWENTY of them on sale at NGK for what, a month  without anyone touching them? Am I missing something here???

They're fairly expensive knives, and primarily collectible(though they make great users) so my guess is that they appeal primarily to those collecting all the Kopa variants, and not to the casual user.

For what it's worth, the Apple Coral is the nicest looking in my opinion, though I don't own one because the clip is on the wrong side:p

I love my Kopas, they'r excellent users. I think the Tiger Coral is the nices looking, a matter of taste. But the Apple Coral is a close second for me.

They are fairly expensive, but if you think about it not *really* as far as gent's folders go? People drop a lot more on Benchmades and CF anything; it's VG-10 and I thought it was a bargain at the NGK discount of $100.

I guess I am saying, it seems like *other* Kopa variants are doing OK considering there is a set limit of 600 each ... why not the Apple Coral?

smcfalls; I didn't know you were left handed? Is that why you sold me your Meerkat :P (you probably don't remember ;))

Apple Coral is also one of the newest, and I think it's starting to hit people just how much it's going to cost to collect all the Kopas. You're right, as far as gentlemen's knives go, it really isn't THAT much, but when you start buying them all, it adds up pretty quicky.

Yes, I'm left handed(cursed really;) ) I do remember selling you the Meerkat, but it wasn't because I was left handed. That was a model I wanted to handle at least once, and once I did, I had no need for it, so off it went.

I do that a lot:o

I like Apple Coral Kopa. It is my favorite out of five Kopas I own. $100 is a very good price.

I'm just surprised.

People seem to be OK with buying (for example) a Mnandi without feeling compelled to get the rest of them ... and we all know how Sebenza collectors are ... and that's SO much more $$$ ... is a one-off Apple Coral Kopa that different from Cocobolo, or MOP?

Speaking of which, Wouter, I'm surprised you haven't been lynched for saying the Kopa is comparable to the Mnandi yet. :p (Nice pics, great review!)

I love the Apple Coral Kopa, but I feel like it's just a little too small for me. Now the wifey on the other hand, she loves it. She alternates between that and her CF Dragonfly as EDC's. My problem is, now she's wanting other Kopa's...

I never thought much about the Kopa until I saw one in person as a gunshow. It really looked like a jewel in the case. It is a true gents knife and not just a polished up Spyderco. Spyderco is mostly known for making mid range EDC knives like the Delica and the Endura. The Kopa is a nice looking knife that reminds me of William Henry quality. It is worth the $100.

I think it worth way more than $100.
$100 is a great buy.
I paid $104 :D
