Why Doesn't CS Make a High End Khukuri Machete?

Why doesn't CS make an 1/8" high end khukuri anymore? The LTC was one of the best large blades that CS ever sold (or anyone ever sold). It is the most useful large blade I own. It weighs the same as a large belt knife, chops like a small axe, and works great for light vegetation. Good, nicely heat treated steel made it bullet proof and the thin, well-designed blade made it ultra-efficient and light weight. The new Royal Kukri Machete looks like it could be a good model to use (minus the guard) in a version with high end materials. Why not? Thanks.

CS has a few blades which have a kind of mythical status for being very, very good at the tasks for which they were designed. Several of them are khuks and the LTC is surely one. Another shape may not fare as well, but it would be fun to see. Thanks for the fast response.

PS. I'm very glad Lynn loves khukuri. The LTC and Gurkha are wonderful modern interpretations and, IMHO, set the standard for the type.

The LTC was awesome for sure. I'd love to see it's return too
I was very impressed with the new Royal Kukri Machete during testing. It performed very well

Hey John,

I was wondering when you would end up here! And which one of us would be the first to post a Gurkha Kukri thread...

I never had an LTC but they certainly were liked and fetch a king's ransom whenever they come up on ebay.

Hi Bill and John,

It's been a while and i guess the vibe of Khukuri gets us together! * wink wink.

Couldn't agree more. I'm still looking out for an affordable CS Khuk.

Hey gents, I've been watching for a while and was glad to see CS here. Bill, I was waiting for your Gurkha thread so I could chime in;) I believe you've got more field time with that little darling than I. Bring it! Maybe in this forum we won't get a bunch of the "it's just an inferior KLO" posts from people who've never held one:) I couldn't hold my toungue anymore on the LTC (or lack of) issue. It doesn't have the battle-ready heft of the Gurkha Kukri, but it's a worker. I'd love to get your take on one. I think Jay would fall in love if he started swinging one around in his haunts. There was one on the Bay for $75, well used, but with plenty of life left in it. It didn't sell and is now back up with $150 on it. Maybe someone is confused on how selling works:D The problem with these things is that when they show up at a decent price on the exchange, the re-sellers grab them. I've never handled the 3/16" flat ground version, but wonder how it would cut. The 1/8" blade on the original just slices right through everything from johnson grass to petrified oak and, with the outstanding heat treat, that wafer thin piece of steel is bomb-proof. The (very) tough black coating has kept it rust free for going on 20 years. At one point I put it into a parts cleaner and worked a wire brush over it for at least 30 minutes to clean years of sap and the finish is still there. I think CS should bring it back in SK-5 or O-1. While not as pretty, my old LTC could probably run circles around many of the premium machetes being sold. It's a diamond in the rough. Take care guys.

Man the LTC is hands down my favorite big woods blade. I used one till i used it up. Sharpened it (Badly, because I was new) probably a hundred times, taped the handle so it didnt rub me raw, and I worked some wood and undergrowth over with that thing. It only died because I didnt treat it like it deserved to be treated. I have a new one that I bought on the old auction site, and it was worth every penny to me. I cant say enough how badly I would love to see CS return this blade, both the 3/16ths ffg version and the 1/8th saber ground. Make them with Micarta handles in full tang and they would fly off the shelf. People pay 150-250 for the old ones now... lol even used ones half the time. You could totally charge enough to make it worth your while to produce these. Please Please Please ...!

Sir, if you would be interested, I have a well loved LTC in Carbon V. Id be happy to loan it to you so you could beat on it a little.

I have the HTC "Magnum style" version of the LTC.

Lynn, bring back at least the LTC...pleeeease (puppy dog eyes :) ) Sorry my tail doesn't wag?!

Maybe its because sales of the Gurka kukuri needed to climb a little??

Per CS Vids, the LTC was being used by the US Navy SEALs.

(God bless each and every one of those Elite Warriors, and ALL our service members here in US and abroad!) I wanna NIB LTC bad!

Got lucky a few years ago and got a mint 1/8 sabre LTC, only used it a few times due to rarity but damn its a good field blade.
Should have never stopped making them, it was after beating the hell out of the kukri machete that got me to buy the LTC.
