Why doesn't EK go back to the old Commander design if it is better?

If the 98 and 99 Commanders are so great, why did EK change the design for the late models? Why doesn't EK go back to the old design if it is better?

I remember when they first came out Rogue-spear.

People where whining and complaining that the '98s didn't have the double detent and they wanted it and a bunch of other complaints. Now that the changes where put in everyone wants it back the way it was

I liked them the way they were then, I still like 'em but I'd give up all my current production Commanders for a couple '98s.

Hi!
I think that some thought that the bodies of the older commanders were too thick to allow comfortable carry, one of the reasons for the change.
I don't think that performance wise anyone is better, yes, the thicker models aren't as easy to flex as the new one's but how often do a knife get's exposed to that treatment??

I'd love for the thick models to come back, but i wouldn't say that they are better.
The thicker one's are more comfy, but a tad harder to carry in certain places, like IWB.
Quality wise my newer Emersons have better fit then my 2 old one's.

How about a "Classic Commander"??
