Used to be able to get Delicas with a nice simple AUS-6 blade and a plastic handle for $30. Then they "fixed" the plastic clip problem. OK, I'll buy that for an extra $4. Then they "fixed" the blade steel. Again and again and again. Now I can get a plain old AUS-6 blade with a slick-as-a-baby's-bottom steel handle at cost for about what I used to be able to get a plastic handled knife for, retail or I can get a gee-whiz supersteel, plastic handled knife for the same amount. When I ask why the strange price scale, I'm told that the steel handle costs more than the plastic handle and that the gee-whiz supersteel cost more than AUS-6. So I say, why not make a simple AUS-6 bladed/plastic handled/ metalclipped Delica, put it on the shelves for a lower cost and be done with it? If someone wants to spend the money on VG-10 or ATS-55 or whatever, fine, but when someone can buy a Gerber E-Z Out for $30 in the same store that wants $60 for a Delica, I think that stinks.
Oh, whatever happened to the simple plain-edged, blue-handled Delica of my youth....
End of Rant
