I'm just wondering why strider doesn't sell scales for their knives like hinderer does? would be great if they did!
has anyone ever heard of a reason why they don't or asked mick about it?
I would write to strider but have written before about other stuff and never got any responses..

would love to be able to switch back and forth between my smf gunner grips and some cc scales every now and again without having to buy a whole new smf:eek:
anyone else agree?

From what I hear, they prefer people not to take their folders apart. Apparently people have abused their reconditioning/repair service after having having done so and putting it back together improperly.

From what I can gather they make their blades first, then fit the handle to the blade. Because they are made to fit there will be some slight differences from one to another. Also I think the fact that the front scale and back spacer are one piece has something to do with it.

Correct, as johnnytoxin, states. Each Strider folder is finished per hand, tolerances are unique and specific, to each individually made strider
folder. Parts will not interfit. Unlike, a factory which assembles a box of parts which become a product, that were all laser cut out. Then assembled.

that makes sense, i hadn't thought of that..so does that mean hinderer does it completely differently since their handles fit any of their knives?

I would say yes. Remember, its because of the back spacer/scale being milled out of one piece that strider must fit their handles to the blade by hand. Hinderers use stand offs which allow tolerances to be a little loose and still work. Although from what I hear Hinderers are by no means lacking in the tolerance department.
