Why don't more folder makers look at SAKs?

Round on the ends to be pocket friendly. All it would take is a single blade one hand opener and even in the less-than-oh-my-state-of-the-art-latest-thing steel.
I look at some mighty swell blades stuck in some mighty jaggedy handles that I wouldn't carry in the pocket of Carharts.

TWO BLADES? Bite yer tongue. Who'd want an extry blade?

LOL, I do :D.
You can have close to nine inches or more edge in a 3.5" closed slipjoint. Try that ratio with a single blade.

Aside from the versatility of various blade shapes housed in the same package - pen, wharnecliff, spear point - you also get useful tools that save the other blades from destruction, like an awl, can opener, or screwdriver.

I think American makers are so overwhelmed by the SAK's quality and price point they leave well enough alone - or just buy their stuff, as Buck did. But it is a valid comment many knife handles these days flat out fail in being comfortable when using them for a long time.

Fashion triumphs over common sense with a lot of casual users, which make up the market.

Ha...............

I don't think about SAKs often but once upon a time I bought a bunch of Wengers (much betta scissors than Victorinox at that time) and gave them to customers. Those suckers still get mentioned to me (usually when one has mysteriously disappeared. "Ohhhhhhh by the way, member that 'lil knife you gave me way back when? Got any of those left? Mine's gone..........and I miss it."

I admit to an affection for all the crap they can pack into once of those too. I always have one and a leatherman close by and use them more then I care to admit.

SAKs aren't my favorite knives but I don't cry when one goes away on me, I just buy another one................ When an ol' Case/Queen/Remington whittler up and disappears I lose sleep over it.

We (American mfg in general) can learn from them on these.
