Hey, so I was always curious about this whole "will not ship to NY" in a lot of seller's FS posts. Now I'm not too familiar with NY knife laws and I was wondering if you guys could help me understand why no one will ship to there. Are their consequences if you do? What are the risks in shipping to NY? Any information would help! Thanks alot!

New York district attorney is making up his own laws. He took all of home depot and some other company’s knives that where legal and they gave them in the millions of dollars in fines and said they wood not sell those knifes in there stat again. I don’t have the money to fight them over something this stupid. If you do it you are rolling the dice to sell if you get caught.

The issue is that DA Vance of NYC has decided that certain knives fall under the gravity or switchblade knife category and has started enforcing the laws very strictly, so much so that some makers, whether custom or production have stopped selling to NY state completely in order to avoid any issues whatsoever. If you are buying a knife from outside the state you run the risk of getting charged, arrested and brought to court on charges of carrying/owning an illegal weapon. Knife rights.org is currently fighting the rulings but it is going to be awhile before anything will be done about it as long as people don't/can't fight the charges. The rest of the state is fine (for the most part) but the city itself is the problem.

To clarify it, Vance has been using case law (court decisions) to classify any knife that can be flicked open as a gravity knife regardless of how much force is required or how the knife is held. It effectively classifies nearly all lock knives as gravity knives, which are very illegal. He also has a history of conducting operations outside of NYC making selling to anybody in NYC hazardous.
