Y'all,
I've been wondering why some knifemakers do not list their prices on their websites while others do.
I can understand that certain materials, steels and embellishments will cost extra, but why can't a knifemaker set a base price for his styles of knives?
To me, this saves time for both knifemaker and potential buyer because they (I) will know immediately whether knives I'm interested in will be in my price range, or be out-of my price range. I think it is a waste of time for both buyer and seller if we have to go a few rounds of emails or phone calls just to determine if it is worthwhile for me to pursue a knife.
To me, it seems easier and faster if a knifemaker is contacted only when someone is ready to place an order. Then his time isn't wasted responding to "how much is your knife A and knife B" type of queries.
