Why does the Seal Knife come with AUS-6 now instead of 440C? I honestly can't see a reason for getting one anymore, unless there's something really special about it.

Last I saw it was in 440C. The Seal Pup Elite comes in AUS-8, with a variety of finishes. I even have the product booklet that came with my Blink, and it is listed as 440C in there. Perhaps a SOG employee will come set me straight.

There was a time, before my employment with SOG, that the steel on the SEAL knife and many other SOG knives was listed as 440A. This was done because AUS steels were not know at that point and a choice was made to list equivalent 440 steels instead. That policy was quickly changed and we have been listing the knives as AUS for the past 5+ years.

Quick refresher of the SEAL series steels:
The SEAL Pup Elite comes in AUS8 in a variety of finishes.

SEAL Team Elite is AUS-8 in Black TiNi finish

The SEAL Pup and SEAL Knife are AUS6 and gray powder coated

I hope this helps out some.
