This pair of boots has been around; did three combat tours and garrison duty for over 10 years. Now I've retired I kept one pair to hike around in, but they needed a refurbish. The stitching on the back was coming out, the insides had holes, the leather looked rough, the soles were rock hard, etc...

I sent these back to Danner and they really worked them over. I got a nice call when they got there, explaining they no longer have the exact color soles they used on these. I understood, as the uniform boots have changed, so I went with basic black for the replacement. All the stitching reworked, all new gore-tex inside, cleaned, a couple minor holes in the tongue where the grommets wore thru patched, damn near a new boot.

Yes, I could have bought a cheap pair of some other companies boots for the cost, but these will last me. Probably the last pair I'll ever need.

(The laces are mine. I prefer 550 cord for that, and red screams civilian better than anything...)

Great tribute. What more could you want or expect from any product and then to top it off with
stellar customer service. GO DANNER!

Thanks for sharing eisman! Good to hear they took care of you and did a great job at it judging from the pics. I've been wanting to give Danner a try, i hear good things. Hard to find them in store's though in my experience, or im not looking in the right places.

I've worn Danner for decades, never had an issue and they are among the most comfortable boots for me around. I've had a couple pair reworked by them as well and they do a great job.

I like danner, nice boots, last 2 pair duty boots have been danners.

The red laces used to mean something else though, don't know the whole story or even if it's still relevant in non black boots but you may want to do a bit of research, or I'm guessing Charlie Mike may know more about the subject.

My Danner Rain Forests are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. I just got them back from Danner a couple months ago, after they put new hardware and Goretex liners in them. I didn't need soles yet, so I had them leave them alone. They came back to me looking almost new again.

My first pair of Danner boots was the elk hunter, followed by grouse, and pronghorn models. They never let me down and were well worth the money. Never scrimp when it comes to footwear.

Yes, you could have gotten a new pair of cheaper boots but one doesnt do that: A pair of quality worn in boots are worth gold.
Danners rock.

My only gripe: Couldnt you have gotten coyote brown soles instead of black?

Danner, some swear by them, others swear at them. They did a great job with your boots.

I never could wear Danners because the shape of them just doesn't fit me. Obviously a great boot maker, though.

I think Merrells have been the most long-lasting for me.

Hmm. 10 years, huh? My last danners got me thru 3 summers of surveying work before they desoled themselves. The gore tex lasted, tho.. the insides of the toe flex holed thru after the second summer and they still kept my feet dry till I retired them.. Acadia, brown leather. Great boots, till the footbed broke down and started to make my ankles hurt.

The last pair of Corcorans I had, tho.. they were daily work boot from '12 till last year, finally blew out the side of them back on that damn surveying work. I think all the bending and flexing as I bounce around the sawmill is what finally caused them to go. I'll probably make a sheath out of them. Plenty of good leather still, from the ankle up.

Yay boots!

Paid $220 for a pair of Canadians in 1989. I was 19. Danner replaced for free in 93 after a rock sliced thru sole n goretex booties while hiking up avalanche peak in Yellowstone. Still going strong. Have danner light II for like 15yrs as well. Great boots the American made one's anyway. Proud to wear them.
